What it does to a run
- Emerald hack on pokeemerald-expansion that rebuilds the Johto story and the Kanto postgame on the GBA, blending GSC and HGSS. Open source, lead developer Lil Dill; v2.0.4 as of August 2026, and v1.x saves don't carry over.
- The pool is Gen 1–3 Pokémon plus their later evolutions — Annihilape, Ursaluna, Kleavor, Wyrdeer and Dudunsparce all turn up on boss teams. Abilities are modern through Gen 9, hidden ones included.
- Mechanics are settings, not fixed: Gen 1–3 or Gen 4+ physical/special split, Fairy type on or off, vanilla Gen 3 or Gen 7 movepools, finite or reusable TMs. Say which you ran in your notes — the planner assumes the modern split.
- Built-in Nuzlocke mode (Easy adds permadeath, Normal adds catch limits, Hard deletes the save on a wipe) with dupes, shiny and forced-nickname clauses. In-game level caps: Easy is the next leader's highest level, Hard their lowest. EXP ×0–×2, trainer IVs and EVs can scale with badges.
- HGSS structure: Chuck, Jasmine and Pryce field different teams at 4, 5 and 6 badges; all 16 gym rematches; the 92 HGSS TMs; berries replace Apricorns at Kurt's; Kanto routes carry a 5% Hoenn encounter chance.
- A separate Hard Mode mod (v1.0) gives every boss six, adds Run & Bun-style switching AI and reworks the Kanto leaders — its own project, so say if you ran it.
Where runs die
- Whitney's Miltank, still
- Clair's Kingdra at 45
- Lance's three Dragonite
- Kanto's gyms at 57–69 with six each
- Red's level 93 Pikachu

The gauntlet
