  • Emerald base running Gen 8 mechanics — anything its docs don't mention behaves like Gen 8.
  • Hardcore rules are built into the game: set mode is forced and the bag is disabled in trainer battles.
  • EVs are removed and level caps are hard-coded per boss; gym leaders heal your party before the fight.
  • Custom battle AI with its own published AI document — reading it is part of playing.
  • Permanent overworld weather, terrain and set-piece effects: Tailwind runs against you at Mt. Pyre, the opponent gets Aurora Veil in Seafloor Cavern.
