What it does to a run

  • No abilities, natures or held items. Special is a single stat.
  • Critical hits scale off base Speed, so fast Pokémon crit constantly.
  • Focus Energy is bugged and *lowers* your crit rate.
  • Psychic types have almost no counterplay — Ghost moves don't hit them here.

Where runs die

  • Brock, if you picked Charmander
  • Misty's Starmie
  • Sabrina
  • Lance's Dragonite

The gauntlet

The ace is the highest-level Pokémon on that team, and the cap is its level in the standard release — the number a Hardcore run caps at for that segment.
